My Trip Away

Hey guys,
Just a heads up that this is going to be a long blog because I have so much to say about my trip to Tassie! Whilst away I kept a little journal that I wrote in everyday so I am basically just typing up what I wrote at the time and shall include some pics I took. As I previously wrote, the trip was for me and Boyfriend's two year anniversary and we went for four days to Launceston, Tasmania. So here we goooo:

Day 1

Got up at 4:45am. Yeah. I know. I could not do that everyday like some people do. And I don't understand why some people CHOOSE to get up at that time to go to the gym BEFORE work...you have issues! Boyfriend oh so condescendingly said "Sarah, you know how when you get up at whatever hour you decide to get up and you turn the telly on and there are people on the telly? They had to get up at this time just so you can watch them". Thanks for that explanation haha.
So got to the airport, relatively pain-free checkin. Had some brekkie (blueberry bagel with cream cheese in case you were wondering which I am sure you were).

But do you know what troubled me? Not one person asked me for some ID to confirm it was my ticket...aren't airports meant to be high security? Sheesh.
So I had to use the bathroom whilst on the plane. Now the following question is not a joke.. when you flush the toilet where does it go? Because it makes that big scary sound which tends to make me believe it is actually going outside of the airplane. ON TO PEOPLE. Please comment bellow if you know the truth behind plane toilets because it is something that has always concerned me.

So we arrived in Launceston in what seemed like such a short amount of time. Picked up our hire car and luggage and off we went exploring to fill some time before check-in. We had a nice little croissant and Chai Latte at this little cafe we stumbled upon. OM NOM NOM. Before we knew it it was time to go to the hotel. OMG. It's amazing. I thought maybe the pictures were photoshopped. But nope. We are in a lovely little villa overlooking greenery and the water. The whole resort is based on swiss architecture and it's so cute! It is now 5 o'clock and I am writing this in my villa to pass a little time before our dinner reservation. Tonight we are trying the resort restaurant and then plan on sampling the resort bar. But first a nice walk around before it gets dark!

Day 2

What a fabulous day! It's 9:47pm :) We decided to eat in tonight (very lazy but a weight watchers risotto sounded great). The weather today was wonderful! As soon as I saw the sun was shining I knew it would be a nice day and woke Boyfriend up to inform him of this lol. We woke up at 10am to catch up all our sleep from the night before and we made some brekkie and then set off for our tour!

James Boag brewery. Boyfriend found it very interesting. I enjoyed seeing where the packaging takes place and the tasting at the end...We had lunch in the beer lovers cafe then we went exploring and I got spoilt with some new jewelry. We asked the shop keeper where the cinema was and we pre-bought tickets to the Great Gatsby. Thank goodness we did! When we went back later after some rest at the resort it was packed with fast and the furious fans! We had a lovely time and left the cinema to the 6 degree weather. Brrrr. I'm just about to dive into some cheesecake so I'll write again tomorrow!

Day 3

Currently in the car at 10:27am embarking on our day trip. Prepare to get jealous. The receptionist at our resort recommended a gourmet food road trip..........Does that sound good or what? First of three stops it the house of Anvers chocolates. Second is the Ashgrove cheese farm and third is the Christmas hills raspberry farm where we will be having lunch.

Okay so it's 3:30pm and we are heading back to the resort. We have been chocolated, cheesed and raspberried and it has been a good day. We had a naughty bit of chocolate cake at the first place. Of course with a hot chocolate...We had a little look at some fudge being made but there wasn't much to actually do other than buy some chocolate. Which of course we did.
The receptionist at our resort recommended a shop called Reliquaire and so we asked directions from the chocolate shop owner and I am so glad we did! It had everything you can imagine...anything from phones to candles to dolls. Gahh so good!
Taken from Reliquaire's website- no photo's allowed inside!

From there we made our way to the cheese farm. Had a few samples and photos with cow statues (as you do). But there was nothing to do there. It looked like you could maybe do a tour but there was no information on how. So we just ate cheese haha.
So we then went to the raspberry farm. The public aren't allowed on the actual farm...but there is a nice lake there to have a stroll around. And a cafe. Which is where we had lunch. I also had a naughty raspberry margherita. Just sampling the produce...

Back to the resort to rest before our fancy dinner!

Day 4

So guess who is sick? Yay me... Not only could I not taste my dinner because it screwed my taste buds up, but I couldn't taste the fancy Tasmanian wine that came with it! Slept horribly and felt gross all day. Until I purchased cold and flu tablets. I hope I make it through security with my handbag pharmacy. Despite my disease, dinner last night was lovely. Was so full though!

Today we did the last few things on our list. A bush maze. A visit to Cataract Gorge where we went on a scary old fashioned chair-lift. Then we went to Gloria Jeans so we could rest whilst my drugs took effect haha. Lastly we went to play mini-golf. Boyfriend won...

So we are now sitting in the airport bar drinking some local beer waiting to check in our bags. It is 6:18pm. Such a lovely day. Only 12 minutes until I can drug up again!

I have a bit of a Nicolas Cage obsession, I know this, but I took this photo because the one on the right is totally him!

This is where I left my journal. I started to feel really unwell on the plane and even worse on the drive home from the airport. Not good at all but I am much better now! If you managed to keep reading up until this point you are a champion! lol.
xx
