What I would tell my thirteen year old self
Now I can't take full responsibility for this idea. My favourite youtuber Zoella uploaded a video telling everyone what she would tell her teenaged self. You can see that video HERE.
It made me have a think about what I would tell my thirteen year old self. So here is what I came up with:
1. Don't stress about school so much. Year 7 means absolutely nothing in the long run. The only subject you should pay attention to is maths. Okay!? You will struggle with it later.
2. Don't experiment with your hair. The one small piece of your hair that frames your face that you decide to straighten, curl, gel or plait is not attractive. I know it appears to be in style. But it is not.
3. Stop taking photos of yourself, editing out the bad parts and posting them on Facebook/Myspace/Bebo. People can tell you have edited it.
4. Stop cutting your hair short! You know you don't really like it. You just get bored too easily.
5. Don't date boys you don't actually like. Also, SARAH! DON'T DATE ASS HOLES! Why oh whyyyyy!?! Better yet. Wait until you are 18. You will meet a lovely boy that will steal your heart and make you glad you waited until you found him :)
6. Choose the subjects at school you are are actually interested in!!! Don't let your parents choose them for you. Also, you don't have to ask permission for everything. Choose your own path you silly girl!
7. Don't drink alcohol just because it is there/cheap. It will make you feel sick. As well as this, only drink alcohol that you actually like the taste of! Your body does not react well to large amounts of alcohol okay? Pace yourself and don't let anyone else pour your drinks for you.
8. Continue with your running! Now I don't mean competitively. Because I know we both hate competitive running. But the exercise is good for you and it will fix some of those body issues you will develop.
9. Stop organising parties at home. You get too stressed out at the idea of no one showing up. Just go out to dinner. Unless it is your 18th or 16th. Because they were good parties :)
10. Get a job when you can. Just so that you can start saving for a car. Also, try and get your license a little earlier. Just so that you don't end up having to walk to uni or work. IT SUCKS.
11. Stay at the same school for the whole of high school. Do you really think your marks would be different if you change schools? You don't end up liking the school you end up at for year 11 and 12. So don't bother.
12. You probably shouldn't be so vocal about the people you dislike. Because then people turn around and say how horrible you are. You just need to accept you won't like everyone and not everyone will like you. And that is okay. Just keep the peace and save yourself from fights. However, in saying this, I give you full permission to stand up for yourself against the little bitches you are forced to be surrounded by in year 7 and 8. They can suck my toe.
13. You are not fat and you never have been. Just calm down lol. However, since you are a vegetarian you do need to watch the snacks because otherwise you will become pudgy. Which is still okay but not ideal.
14. Don't be afraid of conflict. Do what you have to do. If it is the right thing to do, then do it despite the consequences. You need to look out for yourself sometimes.
15. Don't be afraid to spend money. Now I know for sure you make it until 20 years old. But you could die without enjoying life. Now it isn't just about money. Say yes to more things!
Alright well that is 15 things I would say to my thirteen year old self. I would also say a few other more specific private things. Name names and stuff. But you get the general idea. I wish I really could say it to myself though. But ah well. What would you say to your teenaged self? xx
