How to prepare for Valentine's day: A day before guide

Ahh...to be young and in love lol. It is mainly single people who claim they hate Valentine's day. Then when they are in a relationship, magically they get all swoony over one of my favourite holiday's. I think it is so nice to think that couples all over the world are spoiling one another with flowers and chocolates and being like "I loves ya".

So as women, there are so many things we have to do to maintain our beauty (I do however believe women can be beautiful without many of these things). This list becomes even longer for Valentine's day. You may be going out to dinner, staying at a fancy hotel or even going camping. The latter being what me and my boyfriend were originally planning. So I have made a list of things that I am going to do today to get ready for the big day tomorrow. They are in no particular order.

1. Drink plenty of water. Hydration is pretty.

Expect a full review of this skin care line!
2. Do a pampering deep clean of your skin. I'm talking about pore strips, exfoliation, toner, a face mask and a refreshing moisturiser. I'm even going to do a facial steam to open my pores. You don't want to be dealing with spots on V-day!

3. Remove any old nail polish, file and put on a clear coat. Since Valentine's Day this year is on a Thursday, being on university break means I will be at home. So I am choosing to do my nails on the day. I am doing this step today because I find it an irritating part of the manicure process.

4. Wash your hair and put on a nourishing hair mask. I always wash my hair the day before an event. That way, by the time the event comes around, my hair isn't flat and it is also a lot more manageable.

5. Deal with all that annoying hair removal. Being quite fair means I can get away with less hair removal than others. But for Valentine's Day I guess I will make an exception. Don't forget those eyebrows! Doing all this the day before will allow for any redness to die down.

6. Exfoliate your body. Whether you use an in the shower scrub or a hand mitten, taking off all the excess dead skin cells will make you all soft and smooth. Don't forget knees and elbows :) If you don't have either, just use a face washer.

7. Moisturise. After the exfoliation it is important to add some moisture to your skin. I am loving Palmer's cocoa butter forumla with vitamin E in the moisturising body oil. It is fast absorbing and leaves my skin feeling brand new! They could work on the smell though... but that will be gone by tomorrow.

8. Give yourself a pedicure. I do all of this myself unless I am given a voucher or am feeling like I need a little pampering. This should involve a soak and scrubbing of any tough skin. If you are feeling really daring, go out and buy yourself one of the skin removing tools the professionals use. I probably wouldn't reccommend this the day before an event if it is the first time you use it. But give it a go :) I like to use an overnight feet treatment as well. Slather it on, put on some socks and you are good to go. I'm using Avon foot works overnight treatment at the moment.

9. Practice any makeup you plan to do that you haven't attempted before. Are you going to try winged eyeliner for the first time? See if you can actually do it the day before to avoid makeup disaster.

10. Make sure his gifts are all sorted! I made them myself this year.

11. Lastly, lay out all your clothes and see if you need to pick up any stockings or something similar. Does your dress need ironing? Do that all now so that tomorrow you can just put it on and feel like a million dollars.

xx
